Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was raised and born to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam Her mother, who is an ex-backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. Her father offered her an appointment as curator at the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She and her family later moved to the place of historical significance. In 2005 she graduated from Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in the class of a vocal music major. Sullivan played the contralto member of the children's choir and, several years later was a part of the adult choir. Sullivan did not get aware of secular music at first. "When I was eleven years old, I was approached by someone asking to enroll me on the gospel recording. I wasn't going to make that decision," she says. "Then the time came that McDonald's had a competition for kids in major cities I was invited to sing 'Accept what God Wills' on Showtime at the Apollo and the audience loved it". At the age 13 she performed along to Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday celebration. Sullivan was 15 when she was signed for the first time to Jive Records. When she was 15 she signed with Jive Records. They recorded her complete album, but it was not made available for release. Sullivan was ultimately dropped by the label. Missy Elliott was her producer for a few tracks in her debut album. One of them was "Backstabbers" from Timbaland that Elliott produced, became one of the biggest hits.
